Last weekend Morgan and I hosted Rachel's baby shower at my friend Patti's house in Olympia. I spent weeks planning the decorations and the food and I was really happy with how it all turned out. We had cupcakes from Sugar Rush in Seattle and cookies from Main Street Cookie in Rainier and boy were they delicious. We had lots of wonderful guests from Rachel's side and Sean's family too, the furthest guest came all the way from Alaska-Yikes! We only played 2 games, there were over 40 guests an it was just too busy to do much more than that. Rachel and Sean got some great gifts, some funny, some really useful and all were genuinely appreciated. The gift that got the most attention was from Sean's mom, she saved the outfit he came home from the hospital in and gave it to Rachel with his picture. He was over 10lbs !! Hopefully baby Carter is smaller than that, Rachel is a small girl. We had a great afternoon with all of our friends and family and I'm looking forward to the next thing- Baby!

I have been working for the last month or so to make Rachel a baby book, hoping to get in done it time for the bay shower. I got it half way completed and then finished it up today. I really love how it turned out, especially the colors in the line I used. I used Simple Stories- Baby Steps, it has lots of great papers and embellishments to use to make a complete album. Now we just need the baby to arrive so we can put some pictures in it.

My baby is having a baby
Oh my..... Rachel is having a baby!! Yesterday afternoon Sean and Rachel came over for a visit just like they do every other weekend or so. We all sat in the living room talking about Rachel's school and the new house they will be moving into in a couple of weeks, normal chit chat kind of stuff. Or so I thought...finally Sean looked at Rachel and said the suspense was killing him and that Rachel had something to tell me. She looked a little scared and then said "I'm having a baby". Yikes! I was shocked and didnt know what to say, fortunately Jim took over and jumped off the couch to hug her and tell her how happy he was. Once the shock was over I gave her and Sean both hugs and told them how happy I am. I did tear up a little, not a full blown cry, but I got a little misty. I'm such a worrier that I have a hard time just letting go and letting life just progress as it is going to. I'm worried about her not being able to finish school, I'm worried about her being able to pay for the birth, I'm worried about her staying healthy- you know all of those thing we moms worry about. But, the bottom line is that all of those things will work out, they always do, and I get to be a grandma in the meantime. I am excited to have a little one around again and to watch Rachel and Sean become parents and grow their life together. Congratulations my sweet girl!

Deja vu?? New post, I promise!
Wow, I seriously don't know what happened with the last post. Apparently I don't remember Cameron's birthday post I made months ago so I did it again!Whoops. Well here's a new post to make up for it.
We went to Seattle on Saturday to take Morgan her desk that Jim refinished for her new apartment. She stayed in the city for the summer in a sub-let apartment for 3 months until the new school year, working in downtown and living the city life. She moved in with Emily and another roommate this month so we got a chance to see the new place and spend some time with the girls. We went to the farmers market across the street , then headed to Rain City Burgers for lunch. Rachel got her "flower fix" at the market and we all got to have delicious burgers, I highly recommend Rain City if you need a burger fix, so good! We dropped the girls back off at the apartment then headed to Cupcake Royal and Lush in downtown Seattle for cupcakes and other goodies. It was a perfect day, I couldn't have asked for more, I got time with the family and cupcakes too. Oh, except Mike wasn't here... we miss him! I told Emily I was going to call her Mike, she said that was weird, LOL!!

Camerons 16th birthday
For Cameron's 16th birthday we headed to dinner at his favorite spot- Hopjacks. I love when the kids pick a fun place that can fit all of us in easily. We ended up in the room upstairs pretty much by ourselves the whole time. Cameron is the last of my kids to get their birth to 16 album so it was kind of bittersweet to have him turn 16. It was fun for everyone though to look through it and laugh at how much we have all changed over the years. As they kids get older they get alot harder to buy for too so cash becomes a gift that they love to get- look at the smile when he saw it was $100! We had a great time with each other and ended the night with a few family pictures out front of the restaurant(shocking, I know). Happy Birthday son!
