Vacation?

Yesterday I took a day of vacation from work so I get get a few important errands taken care of. I took Mike to school, did some household shopping, took Mike to the dentist and then down to the college to take the entrance test. Here in Washington, a high school Junior can start taking college classes that count as both college and high school credit as long as they pass the entrance exam. Mike rocked it and easily passed the English and Reading! He didn't pass the Math but only two parts of the test have to be passed in order to qualify. So next year he'll be off to college!! I'm so proud of him. I kicked myself though, I forgot to bring my camera so I don't have any pictures of the day at all. Oh well, what can you do?
I did manage to get a layout done later in the day for this weeks Scraptiffany challenge. When Tiffany was over on Sunday and mentioned the theme I immediately had two or three ideas pop into my head. This layout of Nancy and I at her first Chemo appointment is the one that I decided to do. Hop on over to Scraptiffany to take a look at what the other members of the team created also- I love the album Tiffany made!

Off to a good start

I spent the day Saturday organizing the pictures for Mike's album. You should have seen my face when I picked up the prints from Costco- all 235 of them. Yikes, I knew there would be some sorting to do! So I worked on that Saturay evening and managed to get them all in order and even "culled" a few from the pile. I hauled all of my supplies back out to the Loveshack and did a few pages Saturday evening. Thanks for the suggestion Tiffany, I think I needed to be in the Loveshack to be able to get my scrapping groove back on.  Then my girl Tiffany came over today for an afternoon of scrapping. Oh my gosh, if you haven't checked her blog lately ,you really should- she will be psoting the most amazing album for her upcoming trip to Alaska. She is truly one of the most talented scrappers I know- how lucky am I to have her as a best friend?? She also gave me some yummy new Pink Paisleee supplies, I feel a page coming on.....
So I got up to Mike's 4th year in his album. Not too bad for a start. I'm getting a bit worried though, I'm not sure if I'll have enough room in the album at the rate I'm going. It's so hard to try to pick which pictures to use, they're ALL my favorites. Oh, well, I'll do the best I can and remember that a pocket page is a  girls best friend! Lol.

Building a boy album

As I have probably already mentioned, each of my kids gets an album on their 16th birthday( or sometime after), that details their life so far. Basically it's a birth to16th year album. So Mike's 16th birthday is June 8th and he is already pestering me about getting his album done. He has watched me give everyone else theirs way after their birthdays and apparently that's fine for them but not for him. He wants his ON his birthday. No pressure for me. So, being the good mother I am, I have actually started working on it. The hardest part is gathering the pictures. Before I went digital, I took hundreds of film pictures. So that means I have to sort through negatives and then scan them into my computer. I have been working on it since Sunday morning and I am still not done. Close. But not done. I think I'll be done by tomorrow, I think. LOL! So I figured I'd take a little break and get some of the guts of the album together and post the whole process as I go along. The album is an 8x8 D ring album from Fancy pants- I love the rich chocolate brown color. And it was a great deal - $10 in Georgia 2 weeks ago. I had to order the refills from scrapbooks.com and they were more than the album. Of course. I found the My Minds Eye Boy paper pad last weekend while out shopping with Rachel. I didn't buy it then because it was $20, but a friend of mine at work had his wife email me a 40% off coupon so I stopped and picked it up on Tuesday night after work. The rest of the stuff is all from my stash, and I found lots I could use, of course. So that's the beginnings. I hope to get pictures printed by Saturday so I can get a start on it this weeknd. Wish me luck!

Silver Bullet

My nephew Cody and his band "Silver Bullet" played a gig up in Seattle last weekend. It was their first time playing up in the city and he invited us to come watch. It was definitely a funky expereince, it made me really aware of the fact that I'm not a young girl anymore. The show was a battle of the bands and it was in a warehouse and there were lots young kids and "screamer" type bands. The first time the kids started moshing I about peed my pants! It was crazy, arm swinging, pushing fun- for them anyway! It was fun to watch Cody get up on stage and play his heart out. He really surprised us all and had a great stage presence and had a blast up there. Rock on Cody!!

Mothers Day 2010

The family came over yesterday to have lunch for Mothers Day. Rachel made me this super cute cake and Jim helped frost it. It was yummy. Jim had the idea to have everyone go down to the local park to take pictures for me because he knows how much I love it. It was an experience for sure. My sister brought her camera too and she took a group shot using her tripod. Too bad I forgot to get a copy before she left. It was kind of a "cluster" getting everyone to focus and pose or look at the right camera but overall we managed to get some good shots. We were missing a few kids obviously- Morgan and Cameron were at their Mom's. We typically don't see them on Mothers Day but they both called me later in the day. Jim and I went to see "Date Night" after everyone left and got home around 9:30. I was exhausted and headed right to bed. I have another busy week of travel for work this week. I'll be in Utah, Arizona and California over the span of the next 3 days. Yikes. After that I don't have any travel planned, thank goodness. I need a break. Have a good week.
